Catherine + Henry (Northanger Abbey 2007)
the 40’s and 50’s had a really cute aesthetic however the dark underside of over patriotism, greed, racism and sexism make me content to simply steal the dress patterns and be glad I’m not living during the time period.
Finally somebody said it
yaaaaas. I’m constantly stumped by people—women, in particular, who proclaim, in all sincerity, they should have been born in a previous era. Sure, there were some great fashions in the past, great music and films. Maybe they like the less intimidating skylines, or classic cars.
But the great thing about modern life? You can still enjoy a lot of those things, while still reaping the benefits of social progress. And if the thing you love about [insert era here] was that “it was a simpler time”….there’s no such thing as a simpler time. Every era is fraught with struggles that we have moved past and can’t really understand anymore, even if we, scholastically, know they existed.

The interesting part of this is that despite their differences, despite the expanding riff between them, Thor still knows his brother. He knows what their mother meant to him. And Thor knows Loki would not be fine with Frigga’s death. He knows his brother would not be pacing around his cell looking like her death didn’t affect him. Loki would be torn. Distraught. A wreck of himself.
Turns out Thor is right. And despite everything, this right here is why they are still brothers.
IS THE FIRST TIME

I reblog this every time it comes up on my dashboard, not because it is a “rule” but because every time I see it the love and sincerity on her face hit me all over again and I think everyone deserves to see that.
And THIS is why I adore Catherine Tate. She’s loud and brash but in quieter moments… her soul comes shining through and it makes everything about her so much more beautiful.
